About Peter, Certified Professional Life Coach.

I love working with people as they make a break through. With over a decade of experience in NYC guiding performers as a voice teacher, I’ve coached hundreds of singers & actors to successfully book Broadway shows, prepared them for performances on the Tonight Show & Tony Awards, get into top collegiate programs, and empowered them to do their best work in the recording studio and onstage.

This type of work involves a deep and empathetic understanding of what it takes create and empower new habits, to let go of old ones rooted in limiting beliefs, and the patience necessary in meeting people where they are in their professional and personal lives. My passion and skills for life coaching have fueled and empowered my teaching and coaching as a university professor, music director, and columnist, and have flourished in deep personal work in my own life, complete with career pivots, and my dedication to my own sobriety and others in recovery.

I built a business in a blackout and saved it—and my life—through sobriety. Before becoming a highly sought after voice teacher in Manhattan, I spent time running a career development program at a Big Ten university, served as business manager to a legendary opera singer, and ran a chamber music festival at Lincoln Center. These career pivots were brought about by peaks of personal achievement, and valleys of secret personal turmoil. And even though I finally pivoted to the passion most rooted in my training as an opera singer and teacher—and found the success I'd hoped for—my secret, round-the-clock alcoholism threatened to blow it all up.

Getting and staying sober is one of the great joys of my life, and it’s included a journey of deep, daily personal work that involves so much that underpins the core elements of life coaching, as well as the work I’ve done with performers for so many years:

  • identifying areas of potential transformation;

  • better understanding thought patterns that no longer serve us;

  • and setting goals with daily, actionable tasks to reach and celebrate these goals.

    My commitment to helping people discover new and untapped strengths is even evidenced in my popular magazine column, Crossover Corner, with Classical Singer Magazine.
